Mr. Harberg began practicing law in 1980, initially concentrating his practice in the area of oil and gas law with an emphasis on title determinations. In 1982, Mr. Harberg opened his own office practicing general civil law. The formation of Harberg & Huvard in 1983 allowed Mr. Harberg to focus his practice on business transactions, with an emphasis on real estate and complex business to business transactional matters.
Real Estate Transactions: Mr. Harberg has represented clients in the acquisition, development, management, finance, and disposition of undeveloped land, apartment complexes, shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, industrial properties, and single family dwellings throughout Texas, concentrating in the greater Houston area. Mr. Harberg served as the first Texas Foreclosure Commissioner for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, representing HUD in foreclosing multi-family properties throughout Texas and represented the Department of Veterans Affairs and HUD in over 3,000 real estate closings. Mr. Harberg has considerable expertise in the acquisition, development, management, finance and disposition of shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, industrial properties, multifamily housing, single-family dwellings and undeveloped land. Of note, Mr. Harberg served as the first Foreclosure Commissioner for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the State of Texas, and has represented the Department of Veterans Affairs and HUD in closing and supervising over 3,000 real estate transactions. He is a licensed escrow officer for Star Tex Title Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stewart Title Company, and has been an authorized closing attorney and/or licensed escrow officer since 1986.
Business Transactions: Mr. Harberg represents business clients in sophisticated business to business transactions and also serves as outside general counsel supervising other attorneys who provide legal services for his clients. Mr. Harberg’s work in this area has involved transactions from coast to coast and has involved in person transaction negotiations for his clients from Houston to Moscow, Russia.
